Competitive tennis player. Rock guitarist. History major. Put them all together and you have a recipe for the new CEO of Clearwave, Mike Lamb.
It wasn’t a typical path to the C-suite but one that gave Mike a strong executive foundation nonetheless.
A graduate of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, Mike majored in history with a minor in business. As a Division 1 tennis player for the Furman Paladins, he demonstrated a competitive drive that would serve him well in sales. And as lead guitarist and vocalist for the band M80 since his college days, he’s willing to play well with others—literally.
- As Division Vice President and General Manager at ADP, Mike was responsible for 17,000 clients at their southeast service center, generating over $260 million in annual revenue.
- Under his leadership as a Division Vice President of Implementation, his teams launched more than 1,000 client implementations annually, producing $450 million in total recurring revenue.
- At Viverae/SimplyWell, an employer health management and wellness solution provider, the company tripled revenue and clients during his tenure.
The road to Clearwave
Clearwave provides patient self-service and check-in solutions for medical specialty practices. It’s not unusual for practices to see patient check-in times decrease to just three minutes after partnering with Clearwave. Real-time insurance eligibility verification and an increase in patient payments at check-in are keys to Clearwave’s—and the clients they serve—success.
As to what brought Mike to Clearwave and his goals for the company, well, let’s let him tell the story.
“Clearwave’s founders, Gerard White and Brian Stone, have done an incredible job launching and building the company to be one of the leaders in this industry, and I’m excited to work with them both as key executives on the team.
“I had a great experience at ADP during a really wide and varied career. I moved on to lead a comprehensive healthcare management organization, Viverae/SimplyWell, through a period of terrific growth. Now I’m excited to be working with Clearwave clients to understand and exceed their expectations.”
“I’m first and foremost all about finding opportunities to evolve our solutions to fit our clients’ needs—both present and future.
“I’m also very focused on building a company that can grow and show repeatable excellence in everything we do. I’m here to lead this incredible organization and provide the resources to help us reach the next level, while remembering that the foundation of our success is in the relationships we have with our clients.”
“I enjoy collaboration and I like cohesiveness. I appreciate a strong team with diversity of views. I’m also passionate about helping this team grow and achieve their goals alongside those of our business, and I think it’s important to have fun at what you do and celebrate the wins along the way!
The goal for Clearwave: Growth, growth, and more growth
“It’s incredible to me how much opportunity there is to provide a great patient experience while eliminating the outdated paper check-in process. This became clear as I learned more about Clearwave and got excited about joining the company. What’s more, we accelerate revenue collection for medical practices to allow them to concentrate more on what they’re there to do—see more patients and provide great care in their specialties.
“With our recent backing from Frontier Capital, the opportunity for growth is exponential. Over the coming years, a great many physician practices will be changing their patient registration and eligibility processes and seeing the benefits. Building on our great foundation of successful clients, we have a clear opportunity to be both the patient and practice solution of choice.”
“I consider the company’s location in the Atlanta area to be the icing on the cake. I think of Atlanta as my home. Clearwave is located near Dunwoody, which, believe it or not, is where I graduated from high school. My two grown daughters live close by, and my parents are only a few hours away. My band even played recently at the Hard Rock Café in Atlanta for a charity event for Children’s Healthcare. I’m looking forward to settling back into ‘home.’
A fabulous team
“I love the company and the Clearwave culture. People here are smart, really down to earth, and passionately committed to our clients. It’s a fabulous team.
“As a result of this team, Clearwave clients are really happy with the solution. We have a product we can continue to evolve to meet practice and patient needs for the long term.
“I mean, what more can you ask for.”
